Business Acumen
Read a P&L. Speak the language of operators. Understand how the business actually makes money — and how your work moves the number.
Career Transformation
The Chrysalis Journey is a 12-week virtual executive coaching program for mid-career women advancing into VP, SVP, and C-suite roles. It combines 15 sessions across 12 weeks, including three one-on-one coaching sessions with Vickie Rodgers, weekly group coaching, a video content library, and a weekly workbook. Tuition is $3,400.
Who This Is For
You're a director or a senior manager. Your reviews have said "strong performer" for years. You've taken the hard assignment, cleaned up the messy team, delivered the number, and stayed after everyone else logged off.
And you've watched people with less experience — and less results — get named to the role you wanted. Nobody told you why. The feedback was vague: more executive presence, more visibility, more readiness. No one handed you the definition.
You are not underqualified. You've been running without the part of the playbook nobody wrote down for you. This program hands you that part: what the room above you is actually deciding on, who has to say your name when you're not there, and the business fluency that makes the answer obvious.
The Curriculum
The first three weeks establish the foundation everything else is built on: a clear-eyed read of your personality, your natural strengths, and the saboteurs that quietly undercut you in high-stakes rooms. You will assess how you are actually perceived by decision-makers rather than how you hope you are perceived, and you will close the gap between the two. From there you build a defined executive brand — a short, repeatable articulation of the value you create — so that the people deciding your next role can describe your contribution as clearly as you can.
Performance alone does not move you up; advocacy does. In these weeks you map the stakeholders who influence decisions about your career, identify who is currently missing from that map, and build a deliberate plan to earn allies and sponsors across the business. You will practice the conversations that turn a colleague into an advocate, learn how to make your work visible without overselling it, and build the cross-functional relationships that put your name in rooms you are not in.
This phase names the 14 obstacles women face that are fundamentally different from those men encounter — from the likability penalty and the double bind on assertiveness to being praised for reliability while peers are promoted for potential. Each obstacle is examined with real examples drawn from more than 200 C-suite interviews, so you can recognize the pattern in your own organization. You leave with a specific counter-strategy for each one rather than a general encouragement to push harder.
The final three weeks build the business, strategic, and financial acumen the C-suite expects before your name reaches the succession conversation. You will work through reading a P&L, connecting your team's work to the numbers the executive team watches, framing decisions for the level above you, and holding credible conversations about margin, capital allocation, and ROI. This is the transformational leader mindset: setting direction instead of reporting on work.
The Missing Layer
Most women are coached on communication, confidence, and presence — and stop there. The piece that's missing is the business, strategic, and financial acumen the C-suite quietly requires before your name even reaches the succession conversation.
This is the acumen we build inside the program — the missing layer that turns a strong manager into a transformational leader.
